To date my teaching work has mainly involved teaching assistantships and course content development.
Course Development
During my PhD I gained a lot of experience incorporating emerging virtual technologies into university courses:
-
Developed five laboratory assignments with solutions and introductory materials for a fourth year undergraduate Fluvial Geomorphology course.
-
Produced a 45min geomorphology ``Virtual Field Trip" video documentary involving a tour of the UBC Research Forest and pedagogical explanations of various features.
-
Contributed to a virtual field trip phone application for a Climate and Ecosystems course. Provided several short video explanations of ecology concepts.
-
Developed five laboratory assignments for an introductory Geomorphology course. Assignments are oriented around a photo tour of the Tahoma watershed on Mount Rainier which was implemented in Tapestry. Questions are hosted in Canvas.
-
Developed five laboratory assignments for a Statistics in Geography course. Assignments are hosted in Github and require the application of R to solve statistical analysis problems using jupyter. Assignments are auto-graded using nb-grader. Topics include data management, regression analysis, t-testing, analysis of variance, and chi-squared analysis.
